January Report
This year, our 2010 Power Drive team consists of ten new members and six returning members. The month of January our Power Drive team has been working very hard; but due to six snow days, we are not as far as we would hope to be. Some of us are learning the ropes of Power Drive while others are using their experience of previous years.
We started off the month by making changes to the chassis of our new standard car. We had to calculate how much chrome molly would be needed for the new car. We have decided to change the way we test and charge our batteries this year. We hope that this will improve the life of the batteries.
The beginning of the month the team was dedicated to putting together and learning how to use the tubing bender. By the end of the month, the tubing bender was finished and we started working on the chassis. We have also been researching better methods for a steering system on the car. We are looking for a more efficient way of steering that gives us more room in our car. Construction on the nose has been started as well.
Our fundraising is going very well this year. We have gained one new sponsor and our last concession stand was very successful. We have a basketball challenge during half-time of the games; you pay a dollar for one shot and if you make it you get a two liter bottle of pop.
This month we have also started getting organized for our documentation. We are trying to come up with more creative ideas than last year. We hope to get the chassis completed next month.
