Because of weather and other factors, monthly electric service bills may vary widely throughout the year. With the Level Payment Plan, you know exactly how much your monthly payment will be.
OPPD offers the Level Payment Plan to qualified commercial customers on Rate Schedules 230. To qualify for the plan, Commercial customers must have had an OPPD account for at least two years and have an acceptable OPPD credit record. In addition, payments must be current and at least one year of service at the current premise is required. Landlords, builders and businesses with numerous start and stop electric services are not eligible for Level Payment.
How the plan works
- Each year, OPPD projects your usage for the next 12 months.
- Using the projected usage and rate schedules, OPPD calculates your annual electric service bill (including tax). This calculated amount is used to establish 12 level payments, which becomes your monthly payment until the following year. Example: if your anticipated bill for 12 monthis is $840, your payments are calculated as follows: 840/12=70. Your monthly payment would be $70
- Generally, your monthly level payment will be recalculated once each year. The amount you pay may increase or decrease based on your consumption and your overpayment or underpayment balance. If your usage increases greatly, we may increase your level payment amount before the end of the 12 months.
You will automatically be retained in the Level Payment Plan unless you notify OPPD otherwise. OPPD does not pay interest on Level Payment Plan accounts with credit balances. To sign up for the Level Payment Plan, please call (402) 536-4131, or toll-free if outside of Omaha area 877-536-4131.
