Omaha Public Power District offers a full spectrum of turn-key geothermal and water-source heat pump design solutions for your commercial facility. We also offer a one-time incentive of $50 per nominal ton for the installation of the following types of electric heat pump HVAC systems in commercial and industrial facilities:
- Air-Source Heat Pumps with A Minimum SEER of 13.0
- Water-Source Heat Pumps
- Geothermal Heat Pumps
Where geothermal systems are preferred, OPPD provides various services for an associated fee. These include:
- Turnkey installation of Ground-Loop Heat Exchanger (GLHE)
- Geothermal conductivity testing for critical design information in sizing GLHE
- Engineering design of GLHE
- Procurement of GLHE contractors
- Construction management for installation of GLHE
Geothermal Heat Pump (GHP) System
A GHP System utilizes the earth as the source for heating and cooling and can:

Ground Loop Heat Exchanger (GLHE) Program
OPPD uses its own thermal conductivity tester to measure the geothermal performance of soil at the site before designing a well field. Then, OPPD can offer many geothermal well field design options. These can include:

- Procurement

- Construction Management
- Financing
In addition, OPPD engineers help builders and owners minimize operation costs while maximizing their return on investment.
