Effective immediately, Omaha Public Power District will enforce Section 4.08, Meter Locations, of the Meter Specification Manual. Section 4.08 requires that meter sockets, modular meter centers, meter enclosures or cabinets be installed by the customer, outdoors.
The only exception to this rule will be in the downtown Omaha area where existing electrical facilities require that metering be located on the inside of the building. Approval from the Meter Department must be obtained before a meter located inside a building will be connected.
