High Load Factor Rider - Rate 468
Who qualifies for this Rider?
The High Load Factor Rider is available only to customers taking service on OPPD’s Rate 231 (General Service – Small Demand). See General Service – Small Demand for details.
Participating customers must have a load factor of 70 percent or greater. They must maintain this load factor not only in the current month, but in at least 9 of the previous 11 months.
What is Load Factor?
For this rider, the determination of Billing Load Factor uses the following formula: Energy / (Days in Bill x 24 (hours per day) x Billing Demand)
Note the billing demand calculation for the general service small demand rate determines billing demand.
Why is Load Factor Important?
Load factor is an indication of efficient energy use. Customers with high load factors utilize OPPD’s fixed assets (power plants and distribution lines) more efficiently with greater energy usage relative to the same amount of demand.
OPPD offers this High Load Factor Rider discount on the small demand rate as an incentive for customers to maintain or improve their load factor.
OPPD rates for larger customers reflect recovery of more of the demand costs through the demand charge, so the rider does not apply to them.
