In August our team started off strong with 5 members showing up to the first meeting, we have continued to get strong support form all these members.  Our first task was to get the Blue Flame and the Mach 5 ready for the fall rally at Wayne St.  Since the Mach 5 just began being constructed on we were able to get most of the frame done.  Sine the Blue Flame was fully constructed all we had to do was fix some minor problems and it was ready for its first race of the year.  We all got up at 5 a.m. and headed to Wayne anticipating a great race.  We got thorough the inspection and was about halfway thorough the race in 4th place.  We switched drivers and the second driver hit the curb, bending the frame so that the car was undrivable.  Our team packed up and headed home, with high hopes for the next race.  For the next couple of weeks we worked on installing new steering into Eleanor.  We also installed foot brakes and throttles into Blue Flame and Eleanor.  With the help of some pulleys we were able to bend the frame of the Blue Flame back into the shape it needed to be in.  Because of some school activities our team has been very busy and work on the cars has slowed down, but in the next couple of weeks we will be back working on all the cars.  See all you guys in the spring and bring you’re a game.

Most of the team is back from the winter sports season, but we have lost a couple to spring sports.  We have some new members that are working hard and have picked up the extra slack.  We have almost completed the first task of getting the blue flame ready.  By attaching the body and putting a tint on the hood of the car the car is just about ready.  The nose cone and the battery covers are the only part of the car left to be put on the car.  The frame of the March 5 is done and we are going to start on the construction of the front axle in the coming week.  In the coming weeks our team will be going out to various companies in the area and seeing if we can get some sponsors before the first race.  We are constructing radio communications helmets so that we can be in contact with the driver and to jazz up our pit crew.  Other than that our team is ready to go and we are defiantly ready to go for the first race of the year.

March was a big month for us and we got a lot of stuff figured out.  We finished the frame of the Mach 5 and started to get the wheels into there positions.  The motor mount is finished and all the electrical stuff is ready to be tested.  The other two cars are ready to race and we have just been making some final adjustments to some of them so they are in top shape.  The last week in March going into the first week in April we are just focusing on Eleanor and the Blue Flame.  We plan to race in Hastings and to race in Lincoln the first weekend in April.  The best news we got so far is that we have teamed up with HDR architectural and engineering firm as the first sponsor our team has gotten this year.  We would like to thank them and all the others that support us in the surrounding community.  Go Vikings!

A lot of work has been done on the Mach 5, but we did not get enough done so that we could enter it into a race before the end of the season.  The good thing about this is that we know what needs to be done and can finish the rest of the car in a short amount of time during the next season.  The Blue Flame and Eleanor have both competed in the Hastings, Lincoln, Wayne, and Kearney races.  The Blue Flame has had the least amount of problems and the ones we did encounter were relatively minor and could be fixed easily.  Eleanor has had some larger problems like; the accelerator breaking twice and we lost the top cover.  We have been able to fix all these problems to both cars in a fairly short amount of time, which we give credit to all the students that have helped work on them.  Looking at the season as a whole right now, we believe this has been the best year that North has ever had.  We look forward to seeing everyone at the Championships and good luck.
