Emergency and Standby Generator Program

OPPD has developed a unique program to partner with customers who now have generators installed and those who are considering installing new generators. The Emergency and Standby Generator Program benefits our customers by providing cash flow on the investment in the generator and it benefits OPPD by providing diversification in generation. OPPD has successfully contracted with customers to provide generator and transfer switching solutions.

Customers who have new or existing generators with a minimum usable capacity of 500 kilowatts (kW) can sign a five-year, non-accredited generation agreement with OPPD to provide on-site generation when demand for electricity is high or when unexpected power outages occur. OPPD will credit the customer $1.50 per kW per month for each usable kW of capacity. In addition, OPPD will credit the customer 15 cents per kilowatt-hour for generation produced upon OPPD's request. OPPD will provide a minimum two-hour notice for generator operation. In order to monitor the on-site energy produced, the customer pays for OPPD-installed metering equipment.
