Who qualifies for the Residential Green Power program?
This rider is available to all residential consumers served by OPPD. Participation in the District’s Green Power Program is voluntary.
What is Green Power?
Green power is created by generating sources meeting the requirements of the Federal Energy Policy Act of 1992. These sources include wind, solar, biomass (excluding burning of municipal solid waste), or geothermal energy. OPPD currently produces green power from wind and biomass (landfill gas) generation.
How does the program work?
Participating customers select a level of green power support. Each level helps pay for a specific amount of monthly green power generation. Each month, an additional charge is added to participating customers’ regular electric bill for their green power support. The District may limit participation in this program.
Support Levels and Charges:
Supporter (level 1) – 150 kWh of green power: $4.50 per month
Promoter (level 2) – 250 kWh of green power: $7.50 per month
Patron (level 3) – 500 kWh of green power: $15.00 per month
Sponsor (level 4) – 1,000 kWh of green power: $30.00 per month
