Who qualifies for this program?
This rider is available to all general service consumers served by OPPD. Participation in the District’s Green Power Program is voluntary.
What is Green Power?
Green power is created by generating sources meeting the requirements of the Federal Energy Policy Act of 1992. These sources include wind, solar, biomass (excluding burning of municipal solid waste), or geothermal energy. OPPD currently produces green power from wind and biomass (landfill gas) generation.
How does the program work?
Participating customers designate a percentage of their monthly energy to support green power. Each month, the District charges a fixed amount per kWh based on the customer’s designated support level. The District may limit participation in this program.
Support Levels:
25%: One fourth of each month’s energy consumption receives green power charges. 50%: One half of each month’s energy consumption receives green power charges. 100%: All of each month’s energy consumption receives green power charges.
Green Power Charges:
Each month, green power charges of 3.00¢ per designated kWh are added to participating customers’ regular electric bill.
