Net Metering Service - Rate 483

What is Net Metering?
Net Metering is available to consumers who generate renewable energy with generators located behind the consumer's service meter. Consumers can use these generators to save on their electric bill. If the consumer generates more energy than they are consuming at their home or business during that same billing period, OPPD will buy that energy at the rate specified in the Net Metering Service Rider.

Who can use Net Metering?
Any consumer that has a qualified generator or generators with a total capacity of 25 kW or less that use methane, wind, solar, biomass, hydropower or geothermal as its energy source.

Miscellaneous Information:

  • The consumer is responsible for the equipment and services needed for interconnection. OPPD will provide metering that measures the flow of electricity in both directions.
  • The consumer must provide proof of a complete and satisfactory inspection by electrical inspectors before interconnection with the District's distribution system. For more information about interconnection, please refer to the Distributed Generation (DG) Manual found on the Distributed Generation page.
  • This rate cannot be billed on the District's Level Payment Plan.
