Incentives Available

Receive an incentive when you install an electric heat pump HVAC system in commercial and industrial facilities. 

Qualifying Heat Pump Types

  • Air-Source 
  • Water-Source 
  • Geothermal 

Incentive Information

  • The one-time incentive is $50 per nominal ton
  • Air source heat pump must be a minimum 13.0 SEER
  • Air source heat pump thermostat must be approved through OPPD's Residential Energy Conservation Program
  • Must be an OPPD Commercial or Industrial customer in good standing
  • Package terminal heat pump (PTHP) units do not qualify

The Process

  • After heat pump installation, request a Commercial Service Energy Conservation Incentive Application via email at
  • Submit application along with purchase documentation
  • OPPD will verify installation and documentation
  • Receive incentive check

Geothermal Heat Pump (GHP) System Benefits

Ground Loop Heat Exchanger (GLHE) Program

OPPD provides many well field design services that help builders and owners minimize operating costs, while maximizing return on investment.  

Engineering Design Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Test-loop specifications/guidelines
  • Test-loop contracting
  • Thermal conductivity testing
  • Coordination with the building architect and mechanical engineer
  • Construction drawings and specifications
  • Contract administration
  • Construction management services

Geothermal Conductivity Testing

Geothermal conductivity testing: 1) measures how the soil transfers heat, 2) prevents uncertainty in surrounding soil properties, and 3) helps avoid undersizing of geothermal loop heat exchangers. The test will:

  • Calculate the number and depth of wells needed
  • Verify correct sizing of the geothermal loop heat exchanger (GLHE)
  • Improve efficiency of the GLHE
  • More accurately measure preconstruction costs
  • Reduce change orders as the system has more accurate design
  • Ensure the most economical installation of the geothermal heat pump system
