Gina Langel

Vice President Safety & Facilities

Gina Langel was named vice president of Safety and Facilities in February 2024. She is a registered professional engineer with more than 30 years of experience in natural gas, water and electric utilities.

Langel worked for OPPD from 2005 to 2021 in a variety of engineering and leadership positions, focusing on efficiently producing and delivering energy and water to the community. She recently served as senior vice president and chief operations officer at Metropolitan Utilities District and returned to OPPD in November 2023 as an executive advisor.

In her current role, Langel is responsible for embedding a culture of safety into everything OPPD does. This includes ensuring the safety of employees, buildings and resources, as well as preparing and developing plans to deliver essential OPPD service during emergency events. 

Langel earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska – Omaha, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
