Omaha Public Power District has conducted a thorough and extensive search for its next Chief Financial Officer. Edward Easterlin resigned from that position earlier this year to accept a position with Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia.
OPPD has identified four finalists for the position – one internal candidate and three external candidates.
Per Board Policy: Board-Staff Linkage 1, Tim Burke, OPPD President and Chief Executive Officer, will make a recommendation to the utility’s board of directors with regards to the appointment of the new Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He plans to do so at the next board meeting on Thursday, May 11. OPPD's Board of Directors must approve the compensation of any corporate officer.
The finalists for the position are Manjit Cheema, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Axeon Specialty Products, San Antonio, Texas; Javier Fernandez, executive vice president and chief financial officer for the Bonneville Power Administration (U.S. Department of Energy), Portland, Oregon; Tamela Monroe, division manager of Business Pricing & Analysis and interim CFO for OPPD; and Kevin Wedeking, vice president of Producer Services for Gavilon Group in Omaha. However, Wedeking has since accepted a position with another company.
