My power is out. What should I do?

Be sure to check fuses and breakers as soon as possible. Outages are often caused by a blown fuse or tripped breaker.

You can report a power outage using our online form, or by calling 1-800-554-6773 (The 1-800 prefix must be dialed even if the call is local.)

If a power outage occurs due to damage to the service line to your home, you may need to contact an electrician to have the line repaired. For more information, please see our When to Call an Electrician web page. 


I’ve just experienced a momentary power outage. What was its cause?

There are many possible causes, such as weather conditions, for momentary power outages. Momentary power outages are brief interruptions in power that last less than three seconds. Typically, momentary outages last less than one second. They often cause a "blink" in your lights. You can help avoid many of the problems caused by momentary outages by taking some precautions in your own home or office. READ MORE


When are OPPD customer service lines open?

OPPD phone lines are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Phone lines are closed on Sundays. You can conduct many different transactions this way. To access customer service, please call 402-536-4131 in the Omaha area, and 877-536-4131 outside of the metro area.

What branch locations does OPPD have?

There are a number of offices at which you can pay your bill and conduct business with OPPD. 


Does OPPD perform energy audits?

No. However, the Home Energy Analysis page offers several options for measuring the energy efficiency of your home from online tools to hiring a professional to complete a comprehensive analysis.

Does OPPD offer rebates on energy-efficient home improvements or electrical appliances?

Yes. OPPD offers rebates for high-efficiency air conditioners and heat pumps through the HVAC Smart program. OPPD also has a lower winter electric rate for qualifying customers who install a high-efficiency heat pump. 


What are the benefits of installing a heat pump rather than an air conditioner?

Heat pumps cool your house in the summer and keep it warm in the winter by moving heat instead of creating it. Customers who install qualifying equipment will receive a special lower winter electric rate. What are OPPD's rates?

OPPD's rates are well below the national average. In addition, OPPD offers a lower winter electric rate from Oct. 1 through May 31, the winter heating season, for qualifying customers who purchase and install a high-efficiency heat pump. Learn more about OPPD rates.>>


Can I pay my OPPD bill online?

Yes. To pay online, you will need your 10-digit account number and ZIP code of your mailing address. 


Does OPPD offer assistance to customers struggling to pay energy bills?

Yes. OPPD’s Energy Assistance Program helps disadvantaged families pay energy-related expenses, primarily during the spring, summer and fall months. The program is administered through the Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross. 


Does OPPD offer tips on home generators?

Yes, OPPD does provide information about generators.
