Cass to Nebraska City Transmission Project Online Presentation

OPPD plans to build about 40 miles of new transmission lines from Plattsmouth to Nebraska City. The new lines will improve the north-south flow of power, creating another pathway for transporting energy in the area and increasing reliability and system redundancy. It’s part of a bundle of current and potential future transmission projects to support growth and reliability by improving north-south and east-west power flows from the Cass County Station. This newest line is the largest OPPD has constructed since 2016 and will run between OPPD’s Cass County Station and Nebraska City Station.

As part of OPPD's investment in infrastructure, we are improving and expanding our transmission system to support growth and development in midtown Omaha. The Arboretum to Midtown Transmission Line Project will include rebuilding up to seven miles of transmission line, depending on our final route, and roughly 2.5 miles of new transmission construction. OPPD will work on the project in two key segments.

Bellevue Reliability Project Open House

OPPD is upgrading our transmission and distribution systems in Bellevue to create more resilience and reliability for the community and to pave the way for significant growth. OPPD plans to rebuild transmission, upgrade or expand five substations and build one new substation in the eastern and southern parts of Bellevue to support community growth and reliability.

OPPD is hosting an open house focused on the new Southeast Bellevue transmission lines. Currently, OPPD is in the early planning stages of this project. We started with a study area and developed a network of potential routes for consideration. Our public involvement process is designed to gather information and input to determine a route that has the least amount of impact on the community and our neighbors, while considering environmental, social, and engineering constraints.
