Energy Savings Assessment

Free home assessment. Same-day install. No cost to you.

Updating key areas of your home improves efficiency, helping you stay comfortable more affordably.

If you don’t have the time, budget or skills to make routine home energy improvements, OPPD’s Energy Savings Assessment Program is here to help. We’ve partnered with CLEAResult to offer eligible customers (between 201-300% Federal Poverty guidelines; see below) a free in-home energy assessment with same-day install of qualifying measures.

Their energy advisor will walk you through your home and point out common areas of energy loss. At the same time, they’ll install simple energy-efficiency upgrades at no cost to you. The advisor visit takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete on average. You’ll also get a detailed report that includes recommendations for any larger work that can’t be completed during that day’s visit. This report includes information on available OPPD rebates that help you make these additional updates more affordable. It’s a fast and free way to give your home an efficiency tune-up, saving you energy—and money—every month.

How do I qualify?

  • Must be an OPPD customer.
  • Must be the homeowner of the property being assessed.
  • Total household income must be between 201-300% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL) Guidelines. Use our helpful FPL calculator to see if you qualify.
  • Current address must not have received OPPD Energy Efficiency Assistance Program (EEAP) funds in the last 15 years.

What kind of measures will they install?

The specific measures installed depends on the results of your home assessment. Common improvements may include:

  • Updating bulbs to LEDs
  • Wrapping hot water tank and pipes
  • Adding smart power strips
  • Weatherstripping windows and/or doors
  • Adding a smart thermostat
  • Adding faucet aerators
  • Installing low-flow showerheads

FAQs

This program is free to eligible customers.

OPPD has partnered with CLEAResult for this program. CLEAResult reviews applications, schedules appointments and performs all energy assessments.

CLEAResult will reach out within five business days to schedule your assessment visit.

The energy advisor’s visit typically takes three to four hours to complete, depending on the size of your home and the number of efficiency measures being installed.

The home energy assessment is a basic visual inspection of your property by CLEAResult’s energy advisor. They’ll walk you through your home looking for areas of energy loss—including your insulation, appliances and heating systems.

The inspection includes same-day installation of basic measures that help reduce energy loss. The advisor also provides a detailed report of more advanced improvements you may want to consider for more significant energy- and cost-savings.

The energy advisor will install basic energy-saving measures that make minor, immediate improvements to your home’s comfort and/or energy efficiency.

This may include:

  • Updating bulbs to LEDs
  • Wrapping hot water tank and pipes
  • Adding smart power strips
  • Weatherstripping windows and/or doors
  • Adding a smart thermostat
  • Adding faucet aerators
  • Installing low-flow showerheads

The specific measures installed will depend on the condition and energy needs of your home.
