OPPD has partnered with HomeServe* (an independent company), to introduce Heating and Cooling System Plus Coverage for our customers. This optional monthly protection plan offers fast, professional repair services for homes with both central forced-air heating and cooling systems.

If either system stops working properly, call HomeServe’s repair hotline at 1-866-277-3706 to schedule a covered repair with a local, licensed professional.

Covered repairs of failed parts due to normal wear and tear are paid directly to the contractor at no additional cost to you, up to $1,750 per 12-month term for the cooling system and up to $1,750 per 12-month term for the heating system. Plan benefits also include a combined-system tune-up. If you own two HVAC systems, you may enroll in multiple programs to cover both systems.

I have two HVAC systems in my home. Does this plan cover both systems?

A plan covers one heating and cooling system in your home. You may enroll in a plan for each system. If you only enroll in one plan, the plan covers the first system you make a service call for.

Do I need this program if I have homeowners’ insurance?

Please check with your insurance agent to determine if your Heating and Cooling system and related materials are part of your homeowner’s insurance coverage. If covered, you may also want to consider the amount of the deductible you pay for any claim (often $500, $1,000 or more). Under Heating and Cooling System Plus Coverage Plan, there are no deductibles for a covered service. You only pay the monthly fee, and the service covers up to $1,750 per annual term for the heating system and $1,750 for the cooling system.

How will I be billed for the coverage?

The monthly fee will appear on your monthly OPPD statement.

What types of damage or failures are covered?

Coverage applies to eligible devices that fail due to:

Normal wear and tear
Defects in materials or workmanship

What types of systems are covered by this plan?

A central forced-air Cooling System fueled by electricity
A central forced-air furnace or circulating hot water Heating System fueled by natural gas, propane, or electricity

How much will the plan pay toward a repair?

Coverage provides up to the plan’s benefit limit ($1,750 per annual term for the heating system and $1,750 for the cooling system).

What will happen if my system cannot be repaired?

If HomeServe determines that your system cannot be repaired, they will provide a pro-rata refund, less any benefits paid, provided or reimbursed by HomeServe for the current term.

Is there a guarantee on repairs?

Yes. Covered repairs include a 12-month repair guarantee.

How can a customer initiate a service call or request an included tune-up?

Customers can file a claim by calling the HomeServe 24-hour repair hotline at 1-866-277-3706.

Do I have to pay anything for a service call?

There is no fee to make a service call. If you miss a scheduled Service Call, a “no show” fee and “call out charge” up to $250 will be applied to your benefit limit.
