Get paid to reduce demand!
Incentives to reduce your energy demand during OPPD peak load periods
Demand Reduction Rewards
Hot summers and hard-working A/C units create seasonal usage peaks for utilities. OPPD offers incentives to customers for reducing electricity demand during these periods. This helps keep OPPD rates low and also delays the need for new utility generation.
Earn a monthly bill credit for reducing building-electricity demand as needed during peak-use periods. Agree to curtail energy at OPPD’s request (with advance notice) and you’ll receive the credit whether your services are requested that month or not. Approval into the curtailment program requires a review of your usage history and/or a review of facility operations to determine how much credit you’ll qualify for, so start the process and get in touch with your OPPD senior account executive or account executive today.
Rate 467L enrollment requires installation of additional metering & energy monitoring equipment at customer’s expense.
Rates 467 and 467H curtailment period runs June 1 through September 15 (excluding federal holidays and weekends) from Noon-10 p.m. Participating customer generators must comply with all local, state, and federal air permitting rules and regulations.
Rate 467L curtailment period runs January 1 through December 31 (excluding federal holidays and weekends) from Noon to 10 p.m.; minimum of 4 hours and up to 10 hours maximum per curtailment request. Participating customer generators must comply with all local, state, and federal air permitting rules and regulations.
Rate 467L energy credit is determined by the number of hours energy is leased during an event.
For example, 100 kilowatts (kW) curtailed for a 6 hour event would receive an energy credit of $0.16 per kilowatt hour (kWh):
100kW * 6hr * $0.16/kWh = $96 (added on top of the base capacity credit)
