Thomas S. Barrett
Thomas S. Barrett is an attorney at law. He is a past Douglas County deputy attorney, who has also been a part of the state of Nebraska Labor Bargaining Team (1997 to 2007).
Barrett was elected to the OPPD Board of Directors in 2012 and is currently serving his first term. He was elected as Board Vice Chair in 2017.
His business background also includes serving as assistant manager of Barrett’s Barleycorn & Castle Barrett.
Barrett has held a number of offices within civic and business organizations including: Nebraska One-Call “Digger’s Hotline” Board of Directors (1997 to 2000) and Ak-Sar-Ben Floor Committee (current member).
His other achievements include:
- Selected to the Nebraska Bar Association Leadership Academy Inaugural Class (2007)
- Nebraska State Bar Government Practice Executive Committee (1997-2007), elected as secretary (2005-2006)
- Ironman Canada, Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon, Chicago Marathon, St. George Marathon and Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
Barrett holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1987) and a juris doctor degree from Creighton University (1995).
